What I find remarkable is that out of the numerous predictions made when my parents were children, the only technology to outstrip expectations was computing. In fact, many pundits of yesteryear made predictions that computers would be as big as houses and only owned by the richest men (only men were rich in the 1960s) by the dawn of the new millenium. These predictions made of computing technology have to go down in history some of the worst cases of incorrect prediction in the 20th Century.
