Adding Employees in MYOB
Though overwhelming at first the process of adding employees will become second nature. It is important to follow a standard method of adding employees. To do this I recommend using the employee template included in this procedure manual.
Procedure

2. Click
on the Card File button
3. Click Card List
4. On the top menu bar click New.
5. Enter
all the fields on the profile page and then click the Payroll Details tab.
To distinguish between employees and contractors a simple but not always accurate test is to consider if the person derives more than 80% of their income from your business. If so they are likely to be an employee.

the personal details and then click on Wages
to continue.

7. Complete wages information and then click Superannuation.
If you change the pay basis from salary to wage then it will become an hourly rate instead of an annual salary.
Tip: Be careful when selecting wage categories. These are often determined by award or the employment contract you write when employing someone.

8. Enter the superannuation information, select the types of superannuation accounts you expect to use, and then click Entitlements.
Employee Additional
Use when an employee wants to make extra contributions above and beyond the statutory 9%.
Employer Additional
Use when you want to make extra contributions above and beyond the statutory 9% for example as an added employment benefit.
Redundancy Superannuation
This is superannuation paid as part of a redundancy package.
Spouse
When an employee contribute towards their partner’s superannuation account.
Superannuation Guarantee
For each eligible employee you need to enter an amount for the period that you wish to calculate their Superannuation Guarantee contributions on.
Tip: You can calculate the Superannuation Guarantee contributions on the full amount you paid your employee, (before tax), or you may be able to reduce this amount (eg, generally, SG contributions are not required to be paid on overtime).

the appropriate entitlements and then click the Deductions tab.
Entitlements should be based on the award. In general employees are entitled to accrue 3.84615% of their gross hours. Similarly, employees are entitled to accrue 7.6923% of their gross hours as annual leave.

10. Enter the deductions and then click Employer Expenses.
Deductions are items taken off the employee’s pay.

11. Enter any employer expenses and then click Taxes.
12. Enter the taxes information and then click standard pay.
The information on this page should come from a Tax file Number Declaration. You can order declaration forms (NAT 3092) by calling the ATO on 1300 720 092 and asking for a Tax file number declaration form (NAT 3092).

13. Now check the standard pay and then click the Payment Details tab across the top.
14. Enter the payment details and then Click Close.
When you select electronic payment you need to enter in the BSB, Account Name, and Account number.
Note: Only select electronic payments if you are using business banking online. This is different from Internet Banking which you are using at the time of writing this procedure.
